Harvey C. Gardebrecht

Harvey Carl Gardebrecht, 73, of Suring, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019. Harvey was born on Oct. 22, 1945, to the late Elmer and Isabell (Massard) Gardebrecht in Suring. Harvey served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 21, 1967, Harvey married Constance Wegner. For 37 years, he worked at Friday Canning/Chiquita Foods. Since 1988, Harvey has kept busy with his steer farm and cash cropping. Harvey enjoyed deer camp and spent many hours building his dream pond at the farm. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren hunting and fishing. On Saturday nights, Harvey enjoyed watching Molly B and would make anyone around watch with him.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 52 years, Connie; three children, Deborah (Steve) Reise, Kim (Scott) Scheer, and Carrie (Wade) Kempka; grandchildren, Emily Reise (fiancé Erik Larabell), Stephanie Scheer, Katie Scheer, Kaleb Kempka, Kroix Kempka, and Kyler Kempka; siblings, Darlene Buhrandt, Judy Genke, Richard (Cheryl) Gardebrecht, Sue Druckrey (Bill), and Daniel (Teri) Gardebrecht; special godchild, Mike Gardebrecht. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Lawrence Buhrandt.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Harvey on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, at Romy’s Holiday Inn at Kelly Lake from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 12:30 p.m. with military honors.
