Gresham/Bowler teams take 1st at track and field quad

The Gresham/Bowler girls and boys track and field teams placed first at a meet April 28 in Keshena.

The Gresham/Bowler girls tallied 65 points, while the boys had 58. The Menominee Indian girls and boys took second with 58 and 44 points, respectively, while the Tigerton girls scored 16 points to place third. Wolf River Lutheran also had a couple athletes compete.

The Gresham/Bowler girls earned seven first-place finishes on the night. Valarie Cerveny won the shot put after a top throw of 34 feet, 3½ inches, high jump after clearing 4-9 and triple jump with a top leap of 30-1.

Gresham/Bowler's 4x100-meter relay team of Hannah Cerveny, Jemy Reedy, Willow Demaskie and Ireland Jensen placed first in 58.62 seconds. Also placing first individually was Josie Cerveny in the 800 (3:05.14), Maddie Haffner in the 1,600 (6:53.95) and Danica Peters in the 100 hurdles (22.59).

The boys co-op had six top finishes, with Emmitt Kietlinski earning half of them. Kietlinski won the high jump (5-8), long jump (19-10½) and triple jump (42-3).

Colby Belongia, Dominic Koster, Aiden Pranke and Kellen Pingel teamed up for first in the 4x100 relay (55.71). Belongia was also first in the 300 hurdles (53.49), and Edward Castellanos won the 800 (2:43.52).

Emma Komanekin and Cali Shawano led the Menominee Indian girls on the night.

Komanekin was the top finisher in the long jump (15-0), 400 (1:13.4) and 300 hurdles (52.66), while Shawano won the 100 (13.9) and 200 (29.04). Both girls teamed up with Alezaha King and Ashlee Corn for a top finish in the 4x200 relay (2:01.11).

Ella Skenadore also placed first for the Menominee Indian girls, winning the discus with a throw of 72-6.

Gregory Turney and Asenex Turney had four of the Menominee Indian boys' six top finishes. Gregory Turney was the top finisher in the 100 (12.66) and 200 (26.39), while Asenex Turney had the top throws in the shot put (38-6) and discus (109-6).

Darus Davis placed first in the 400 (59.11) and teamed up with Gregory Turney, Francis Delabrau and Ja'Shua Dodge on the first-place finishing 4x200 relay team (1:48.07).

Tigerton's Mary Kreklow won the girls 3,200 in 14:55.38.

Eli Schultz and Adam Smith competed in the shot put and discus for Wolf River Lutheran. The top finish was fifth by Schultz in the shot put after a throw of 25-5.
