Gresham/Bowler teams 2nd at track and field invitational

The Gresham/Bowler boys and girls track and field teams each scored 80 points to place second at the Weyauwega-Fremont Invitational on May 5 in Weyauwega.

Weyauwega-Fremont took first on both sides, with the girls team tallying 254 points and the boys team 251. The Tigerton girls came in third with 44 points, while Marion took seventh with six points.

Emmitt Kietlinski led the Gresham/Bowler boys team with three first-place finishes. He won the triple jump (40 feet, 8½ inches), long jump (18-4) and high jump (6-3). Kellen Pingel was the top finisher in the boys discus with a throw of 120-10.

For the girls co-op, it was Valarie Cerveny and Hannah Cerveny leading the way. Hannah Cerveny posted a mark of 14-6 to win the long jump, while Valarie Cerveny had a distance of 34-3½ to win the shot put.

Tigerton's Elizabeth Robbins won the girls 200-meter dash in 28.73 seconds. She was also first in the triple jump with a top leap of 28-2.

Bridget Much had Marion's top individual finish, placing fourth in the 100 hurdles in 24.27 seconds.
