Gillett, Oconto Falls plan school referendum sessions

By NEW Media Staff

The Oconto Falls School District has scheduled a public tour of Washington Middle School, and the Gillett School District plans to hold a public information session as both districts approach voters with referendum questions in the April 5 spring election.
The tour of the middle school, 102 S. Washington St., Oconto Falls, is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 28.
A new middle school is the centerpiece of a $49.9 million facilities referendum. Parts of Washington are more than a century old, and the newest portion was built in the 1950s.
The referendum also includes upgrades and remodeling at the district’s other three school buildings — Oconto Falls High School, Oconto Falls Elementary School and Abrams Elementary School.
The Gillett School Board will be hosting a referendum information night beginning at 6:30 p.m. March 22 in the commons at Gillett Secondary School, 208 W. Main St., Gillett. School officials plan to give a quick overview of the referendum and its impact, as well as offer a question and answer session for members of the community.
The school district is asking to exceed its revenue limit by $450,000 for each of the next three years, in an extension of a referendum approved three years ago.
