Donna Schultz

Donna Schultz, 81, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Donna was born on May 31, 1938, in Oconto, to the late William and Dorothy Quandt. She is a 1956 graduate of Gillett High School, where she sang in the choir and participated as flag bearer in the band.

Donna has always had a strong faith; once a month, she participated in Luther League, where she studied the Bible, acted in plays, as well as other numerous activities. She enjoyed playing piano for Sunday school, as well as teaching Sunday school, until her marriage to Donald Schultz in Gillett, on September 19, 1959.

The couple danced every weekend, enjoying the waltz, polka, and jitterbug. Many knew Donna from the Red River Tavern and Store, where she worked for many years, or the Red River Diamond concession stand, where she served for 20 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, as well as the ALCW.

She was an avid bowler, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing cards, and relished watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports and music, and was known as a great cook by all. Donna’s favorite sayings, “Never give up! Believe anything is possible! Have faith in God, and great things will come your way!”

Donna is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Dawn (Bob) Brock, of Shawano, Dale Schultz, of Shawano, Danny (Barb) Schultz, of New London, and Debbie (Bart) DeFere, of Shawano; her grandchildren, Angela (Kyle) Konitzer, Mason (Madeline) Brock, Erin Brock, Brett Schultz, Aaron Schultz and Bailey DeFere; her siblings, Dorothy (Bob) McDowell, of Gillett, and Marvin (RoJean) Quandt, of Neenah. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends, including special friends, Carol and Dale Magee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy, and one grandchild, Erin Hill.

A funeral service for Donna will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Swedberg Funeral Home, and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
