Boys Basketball: Clintonville snags No. 4 seed for postseason

CLINTONVILLE — The Clintonville High School boys basketball team was awarded a No. 4 seed for the upcoming 2020 boys basketball tournament.

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association released the playoff brackets Sunday evening.

Clintonville’s No. 4 seed also comes with a bye into the regional semifinal in Division 3.

The Truckers will either host fifth-seeded Northland Pines or 12th-seeded Tomahawk on March 6 at 7 p.m.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood is also part of the same regional pod.

The eighth-seeded Chargers will host ninth-seeded Little Chute on Tuesday, March 3. The winner of the regional quarterfinal will travel to take on top-seeded Wrightstown on March 6.

Shawano picked up a No. 5 seed and bye in Division 2, but they will have to travel to face fourth-seeded New London on March 6 to open the postseason.

Hortonville is the top seed in Shawano’s regional pod, while Merrill is the No. 2 seed.

Bonduel and Menominee Indian will compete in Division 4 and face off to start the postseason Tuesday, March 3. The seventh-seeded Bears will host the 10th-seeded Eagles.

The winner of the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division rematch will advance to face second-seeded Lourdes Academy on March 6. Iola-Scandinavia is the top-seeded team in the regional pod.

Gresham, Bowler, Marion and Tigerton will all compete in Division 5.

Gresham, a No. 10 seed, will travel to face seventh-seeded Three Lakes. Bowler, a No. 13 seed, is also in that regional pod and will travel to No. 4 Gibraltar. Both games are scheduled for Tuesday, March 3.

Wausaukee (No. 1) and Wabeno/Laona (No. 2) are the top seeds in the regional pod.

Marion and Tigerton are in a regional pod that has Almond-Bancroft as the top seed and Wild Rose as the No. 2.

Tigerton, a No. 15 seed, will open the postseason at Wild Rose. Marion, a No. 13 seed, will travel to battle fourth-seeded Pittsville. Both of those games are also set for Tuesday, March 3.
