Awards were given at the Art of the Quilter show at the WOWSPACE

There were four awards presented at the Art of the Quilter VI: Keep Me in Stitches quilt show at the Walls of Wittenberg WOWSPACE. The quilt show, which was open weekends from Jan. 18 through Feb. 2, featured 37 quilts.

The show included the quilted creations of 22 different quilters from 12 different cities as well as an antique baby quilt and a redwork signature quilt on loan from the Wittenberg Area Historical Society.

The three Peoples’ Choice awards were presented based on approximately 160 votes cast by visitors to the show who were asked to vote for the quilt which appealed to them the most.
First place went to Debra Court of Black Creek, for “Memories of Vietnam”. Second place was awarded to Mary Beth Koeppel of Wittenberg, for “Galaxy of Geese”. Third place was awarded to Gloria Kohn of Birnamwood, for her quilt titled “Tumbling Stars”.

Linda Krueger, owner of Pinery Patches in Tigerton, received the Award of Excellence for her quilt titled “Christmas Street”. This award was voted on by the quilters with quilts in the show. Quilters based their decision on technical skill.
