Shawano 4, Antigo 1

Shawano made it through the first round of regional action with a 4-1 win over Antigo.

Tom Keszo pitched a complete game and earned the victory. He gave up five hits and one run in seven innings. He struck out nine.

Keszo also had two hits at at the plate. Pete Bruette connected on a double.

At 14-8, Shawano will play May 28 at Notre Dame.

Bonduel 12, Iola-Scandinavia 0

Bonduel clinched the CWC-East title with a 12-0 win over Iola-Scandinavia.

Bonduel scored one in the first on a Noah Weier base hit. The team added three in the third on an Easton Reinke double and put the game away with five in the fifth on four hits and four walks.

Cade Johnson, Reinke and Charlie Tauchen all had two hits each. Tauchen and Reinke both doubled. Weier and Reinke each had two RBIs.

Johnson threw a solid four innings for the win, with relief help from Brodie Hartmann.

Bonduel ended the regular season at 19-3 and 13-1 in CWC East.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 24, Gillett/Suring 4

Each team doubled their score in the seventh inning, but with Wittenberg-Birnamwood leading 12-2 to begin the inning, the Chargers clearly were in control in the 24-2 WIAA regional game.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood led 5-1 after one inning, added five more in the third and two in the fourth. Gillett/Suring added one in the fifth.

For the Chargers, Ian Salvesen hit 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs. Zandyr Barke hit 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Nathan Waupekenay was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Bryson Schmid hit 2-for-3. Keegan Bembo was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Keegan Schmid connected on 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Connor Meverden had a double, and Owen Dickman had an RBI.

Bryson Schmid had two stolen bases, and Barke and Keegan Schmid each had one.

Waupekenay won on the mound with relief help from Chris Sippl.

Gillett/Suring ended the season 2-9 in the Marinette & Oconto Conference and 4-17 overall.

Freedom 6, Oconto Falls 1

Wyatt Laughrin hit 3-for-3 with an RBI, but that was the only run scored for Oconto Falls in a 6-1 season ending loss in WIAA regional play.

Jack Adler took the loss on the mound, pitching four innings, giving up four hits and five runs (two earned), striking out three and walking three.

The Panthers were 7-11 in the North Easter Conference and 9-13 overall.
