2 teachers initiated into Delta Kappa Gamma

Jan Ptacek and Lisa Sorlie were initiated into Delta Kappa Gamma Nu Chapter during its May meeting at Mathew’s Supper Club in Clintonville.

Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society of key women educators. Nu Chapter includes educators from Shawano and Waupaca counties.

Ptacek earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education and a master’s degree in special education and reading from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She worked for 37 years for Clintonville public schools holding a variety of positions— special education teacher, third grade teacher, and special education reading teacher.

Ptacek retired two years ago and now shares a part-time position as Title I teacher in Shawano working 12 hours a week.

Sorlie earned a bachelor’s degree in with a major in education and minor in science from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, masters of education from Concordia University, and a library media/digital technology degree from UW-Oshkosh. She has worked for the Bonduel School District since 2003 where she was the library media specialist and achievement gap reduction coach at Bonduel Elementary School. She is currently a middle school science teacher and district library media specialist.

Sorlie has been active with UW-Madison and the National Institute of Science in yeast research (substrate information) and is published.
