Love more than impresses in first season as starter

While the season did not end as any Packers player, coach or fan wanted, Green Bay may have gotten the next best thing, as it looks like the next franchise quarterback has emerged.

Coming into the season, the Green Bay Packers were faced with more questions and a bigger mystery than any season over the past 30 years. Aaron Rodgers left, no receiver had more than one year experience and nobody knew what Matt LaFleur’s offense really looked like.

49ers prove to be Packers playoff kryptonite again

Green Bay once again ran into its kryptonite in the postseason, as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Packers 24-21 in the NFC Divisional Round in San Francisco on Jan. 20.

This loss for Green Bay marks the second straight time the playoffs have ended at the hands of the 49ers and the third time in the last four playoff appearances.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love was given the opportunity to steal the victory though. With just over one minute remaining in the game and down three points, Love and the offense took over at the 49ers 25-yard line.

Young Packers look like a force in NFC

After Green Bay’s offense dismantled the Dallas Cowboys’ number one ranked regular season defense, the young Packers team proved that it has to be taken seriously as a contender for the Super Bowl.

After defeating the Carolina Panthers on Christmas Eve, Green Bay’s playoff chances sat at just 28%. Since then, the Packers have ripped off three consecutive victories and find themselves two games away from a Super Bowl appearance. It seemed unlikely that even if Green Bay snuck into the playoffs, it would not have a chance to beat the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas.

The Green Bay Packers are in the playoffs, and they’re not just here to participate.

Less than a year after making seismic changes to their organization, and less than three months after falling to 2-5, the Packers are now 10-8 and in the postseason for the first time since 2021.

That was all well and good, but the season was going to be a relative footnote if the Packers laid an egg in Dallas.

They didn’t. Jordan Love was flawless, throwing three touchdowns to three different receivers en route to what was a perfect passer rating before his final pass of the game.

Packers’s offense vs. 49ers’ defense

All eyes are going to be on Jordan Love as he looks for an encore performance of his sparkling playoff debut. Aaron Rodgers’ playoff debut was a game for the ages, where the Packers lost 51- 45, but Rodgers was brilliant.

Love’s offense scored more points and was able to get a win, something that eluded Rodgers in his first go-round of the postseason.

We’re running out of superlatives for Love at this point. Since the calendar turned to December he’s thrown 21 touchdowns to just one interception.

Benny Sapp III is a strong safety for the Green Bay Packers. He played college football at Northern Iowa and Minnesota.

His father, Benny Sapp II, was an NFL cornerback. Also playing college football at Northern Iowa, he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.
