Bears dominate Sturgeon Bay in playoffs tuneup

Two Packerland Conference football teams heading in opposite directions closed out the regular season Oct. 17.

Bonduel headed to Sturgeon Bay and wrapped up second place in the conference standings behind Kewaunee with a 62-0 win over the Clippers.

Sturgeon Bay wasn’t the only team to be shut out in its regular-season finale, as Bay Port handed Pulaski a 42-0 loss.

The Bears improved to 7-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference games with the win, while Sturgeon Bay ended its season with an 0-9 record and extended its losing streak to 14 games.

Bay Port’s offense and defense were clicking in a win on the Red Raiders’ home field.

The Pirates capped their first drive with Matt Stevens’ 9-yard touchdown pass to Casey Jacobson, and Stevens added a 2-yard quarterback keeper later in the first quarter.

Brady Moon’s 22-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Bay Port a 21-0 lead, and Rex Helms’ interception set up the Pirates’ final score of the first half, an 8-yard run by Moon.

Bay Port added two more touchdowns in the second half while keeping the Red Raiders scoreless for the first time this season.

Other scores: Oconto Falls 32, Manawa 0; Fox Valley Lutheran 48, Shawano 16.
