Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will relive history when it presents the musical “1776” on May 7-17.
Actors will have a rare opportunity to portray the United States’ founding fathers including John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. Auditions will take place from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 11 and Feb. 13 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. Individuals can audition either day.
“1776” brings the signing of the Declaration of Independence to life, full of sharp dialogue, stirring music, and moments of humor and heart. “1776” tells the story of the debates, compromises and larger-than-life personalities behind the founding of the nation.
The musical, directed by Will Knaapen, calls for male and female cast members, ages 16 and up. Those who audition should come prepared to sing one minute of a song from a musical. They are encouraged to sing along to a music track on their phone, instead of singing a cappella. The auditions will also include a reading from the script.
If an in-person audition isn’t feasible, contact ASPI at 920-826-5852 or theater.aspi@gmail.com regarding an alternate time or a video audition.
Pre-registration is appreciated, and individuals are encouraged to complete the online audition paperwork prior to auditions. A link can be found under the events/auditions tab at www.abramstheater.com. The auditions tab also includes rehearsal information and character descriptions.
“1776” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International.
